guy... and thesis status

i think i have a much more solid design for guy, the other main character in my thesis.

i hate doing the 'rotate from every angle' character design sheet. this is probably because i don't do them well. my characters always end up looking very thin and lifeless. i did make a few attempts, but haven't been satisfied.

here's a quick sketch that looks a little bit closer to the finished product. i want to use lots of contrasting oranges and blues - guy's scenes primarily in orange, violet's in blue, and sort of a marriage of the two in their scenes together.

the background is just gis'd with a photoshop filter or two slapped on it. i just wanted to get a feel of what i'm attempting to do.

deadlines will be coming up soon, and i've got most of the bases covered. they ask for rough storyboards with action lines, descriptions, sounds, etc, but i did something different. earlier in the year, i made a 'master guide'. in short, it's a more detailed storyboard sans the actual, um, pictures. i want to pair that with a rough animatic and hope it suffices.

i'm scared and excited about thesis, and i don't want to catch a nasty bout of freezeup-itis. i bought a scanner/copier/printer, finally bought an external hard drive, and got a great deal on a big hdtv/pc monitor. i'll have a sweet triple monitor work station, and a sweet work station = productive suzanna!
