kids

i have been kind of swamped lately because i got a job teaching art to little kids. it is pretty neat seeing them emulate the projects i come up with (and swipe from the internet) and they are pretty cute to boot. i like being called 'miss suzy'.

the things they say and the ideas they come up with remind me of the way we all acted when we were little. that's nice, too. seeing how those types of things don't really change. all in all it's a pretty interesting experience.

mini projects

well i graduated sva and am now a real life bachelor of real life fine arts. ideally i'd love to work in a place where i could do both administrative and creative work. the longer jobs i've had involved a lot of the former but almost none of the latter, and it's something i've always had an itch for. once i get grounded, i'd like to take a couple graphic design classes to expand my skillz.

until then, i came up with a kind of idea. during thesis, finishing a scene was like finishing a little piece of artwork that, taken out of context, could make a nice little thing to look at on its own. i figure doing a scene unrelated to anything that could have context padded on either end of it would be a fun idea. depending on the complexity, such a scene could take anywhere from three days to a couple weeks. free time better spent doing this than nothing at all.

i'm getting a few ideas just from listening to music, but you never know where you'll find inspiration. i found this pap picture on a gossip website and fell in love with it immediately:

i love the composition, the framing of the guys by the girls, the guys' differing facial expressions... i don't know, it's just a cool pic. i'd love to expand on it and make it move.

i'm not ready to tackle a huge film again just yet. i feel like doing mini scenes like this after getting home from a good old 9 to 5er would be a good way to keep drawing and keep animating without getting repeats of scary thesisitis.

right now is all about stabilizing.
