paint doodling

i went to take pictures of my newest drawings with my camera... and saw that the lcd screen had broken! it still takes pictures fine, i just won't know what they look like until they've loaded onto the computer. i'll just have to make do like the ancient peoples of 1993.

so because of that, i only have a couple paintings:


this is a nude model that i drew clothes on. she didn't originally have her toes pointed. i tried to make it look like a spotlight was shining on her in the upper left corner, but i think i went too far up with the green. the quality is shotty (it was taken with my broken camera), but i still like it. it took about twenty minutes.
i did this during some downtime in class. it started out with some random strokes at the bottom, then i just kind of went with it. if you can't tell, it's a girl sitting at the bottom of a tree.

i made up some sort of meaning to it as i was going along. it made me think about when you're 'in the zone' doing something (drawing, reading, whatever), the rest of the world becomes this sort of abstract concept. because 95% of your brain is focused on your sketchbook, your real environment sinks into your subconscious. the concept of where you are is just kind of floating there until you bring yourself back to reality.

so the tree is in this girl's subconscious. she's aware that it's there, and knows the components that make it up. her focus is elsewhere, though, so the 'concept' of what a tree is what i ended up with.
