hi this is an idea for a feature/series i had to develop for one of my classes:

The second coming of Christ lives on Earth, though there is no apparent apocalypse. Nobody knows he is the Son of God except for his mother, a formerly-deceased nun who got busy with God while in Heaven. God, who is staunchly pro-life, sends the nun and her child back to Earth.

We come into the story as Joe begins his adolescence. This is where he will start to realize the density of his situation. He will be exposed to depictions of how people imagined the second coming, and what people expect him to be. He will see the viewpoints of believers, historians, critics, and zealots, and compare and contrast those views to who he actually is. "Joe Christ" is about discovering one's self in a world that already has you defined.

this is joe. he's like 14 or 15. his christ-y powers will start to emerge around the same time as puberty, so that's double the trauma. he is a pretty chill kid, but given his situation, he's allowed to freak out every once in awhile.

this is the mom. when she died, she went to heaven, and as nuns save themselves for god, he tends to get a bit of hot nun tail. she is sent back to earth with her son, because god won't allow people to be born in heaven - they need to earn it first. 

i'm not sure whether i should have her be very loving and understanding and accepting of the situation, or batshit insane with posters of god plastered on her walls and always calling like a teenage girl. 

this is "god". i'm totally ripping off paying an omage to earthbound, i suppose, but joe and his mother can communicate to him through this phone and this phone only. i don't think the audience should be able to hear what god says, and only infer from the reactions of the people on the phone with him. it would make dialogue writing a lot easier!

it's way too heavy for me to actually develop any further than the premise and characters. try to look at it from a foreign, fresh perspective. it's just a story, albeit a pretty delicate one!
