uh oh!

in case the tens of readers haven't noticed yet, i've subconsciously made it a point to update four times a month. and this month will be no different!

the only problem is, i don't have much to show. the animation i'm working on isn't quite ready yet, and i wasn't too impressed with my life drawing as of late. i really need to do some of my own drawing more. a lot more. i'm kind of disgusted with myself that i haven't been for so long.

but enough of that. what i do have is a nice little 'alphabet story'. i won't explain the rules - it's pretty self explanatory:

---

All she ever wanted was a birthday.
But the world decided June 31st was no longer necessary.
Couldn't they have done it earlier?
Do they not know how many lives were affected?
Even animals have birthdays.

For far too long, she felt ignored.
Genuine depression gave way to insanity.
"Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me..."
It was the 8th of September.

"Joking, right?" her brother scoffed.
Kicking his brand-new birthday football at her head, she winced but did not falter.
"Look at you, no birthday girl."
"Maybe you don't even exist."

Nobody understood her situation.
Over at the playground, she sat still on a swing.
"Please go away", she choked to an approaching shadow.

"Quick to judge, are you?" said the strange boy who followed her.
"Rumor is, you don't have a birthday."

"Shut up and leave me alone", she said, her eyes fixed on the ground.

"To tell you the truth, mine's 31st of September."

"Uh huh, you're not funny."

"Very much not, and I ain't trying to be."
"Will you be my friend, so we can at least be non-existant together?"

Xeroxes of wedding invitations followed in a flash.
Yellow and cream colored, like that of a cake.

Zales' ring engraving read, "Forever and always, Februrary 29th".

it's a bit coincidental that i remembered to post this on leap year day. if i didn't, i'd have to wait four more years, and that'd be all sorts of embarrassing.
